A WC doctor gave me a full arm brace in September to wear. It limits the range of motion in my arm. I wore it on Thanksgiving because I had a lot of work to do, helping with dinner at my dad's. Two days later my elbow had shooting pains in it like it gets sometimes. I did my stretches, hoping that would help. The next day my left hand was red, swollen and hurt very much on the top inner side, toward the thumb. I couldn't open doors or grasp anything. I went to see the WC doctor the next day. He had x-rays taken, told me he thought it was arthritis, and sent me and my x-rays to my GP since arthritis is not covered under workers comp. My GP looked at the x-rays, said he didn't think I had arthritis, but he would send me to the lab for blood work. In the meantime I had driven 30 miles to see the WC doctor, then 30 miles back to see my GP and I was in a lot of pain. I asked my doctor if he could do anything about the pain. He wrote a script for a medrol dose pac (6 pills the first day, 5 the next, etc.). Once I had it filled and started taking it, my hand started looking and feeling much better. Has anyone ever experienced this before or knows what might have happened to my hand? I'm still waiting for the results of the blood work. Thanks. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 1 Dec 2000 20:25:06 -0800 Subject: Re: Tendonitis I found that wearing my braces while working relieved the pain for the short term but caused pain in other places. It is hard to not strain against a brace when doing an activity. This caused pressure points on my forearm that became sore. I found I could not wear my brace to work more then 2 days in a row. I now only wear it while sleeping or when not doing anything that would cause me to try and resist against it. pre
