Glide Exercises

Median Nerve Glide

The median nerve goes to the index and middle fingers, half of the ring finger, and the entire thumb, but there are some variances among individuals. Try this exercise if you experience nerve symptoms in these areas.

  1. With your left hand in front of you, palm down, start with a gentle fist, wrist bent down.

  2. Open and splay your fingers. Extend your wrist.

  3. Simultaneously turn your palm upward. Try to turn your wrist as far counterclockwise as you can.

  4. With your other hand, reach under your hand and grab the base of your thumb. Gently pull downward, trying to extend the rotation a little. Make sure to pull from the base of the thumb, not the joints.

  5. Repeat 7 times.

  6. Repeat with the other hand.
