least one purpose... so I hereby announce the inception of the Olbermann award. Awarded to anyone, anywhere for honesty, intelligence, and guts.

The award itself is not very large, in fact it's only a few inches tall, in solid bronze. But what is monumental is the importance of being honest in the face of persistent lies, intelligent when forces around you conspire to support simple-minded values, and having the guts to speak what your heart and mind tell you despite the pressure to do otherwise. For that this award is conceived, and its first recipient is Mr. Olbermann.

To nominate someone for the award, email me, Jack Bellis. To learn more about the chess set, there's a web site.

First Recipient, July 2009: Ed Schultz
